This body of work is deeply connected to nature, a constant source of inspiration for Marleigh Culver. The muted color palette is both calming and optimistic, featuring sunny shades of yellow offset by earthy greens and rust tones.
For the artist Lily Wong, navigating space as an Asian American woman has informed her creative practice. Through acts of drawing, she builds fantasy spaces where an identity can form, evolve and resolve itself creatively. According to the artist, there is no reconciled state of being, just alienation and self doubt mixed in with the inherent desire to celebrate and to know oneself.
Works in this collection span explorations of the minimally mundane to expressive explosions, all in search of a transcendent moment, marking the start to a new journey. Like a pendulum, swinging from one extreme to another, the process of engaging in each sway reveals pieces, when brought together, unlocking dormant possibilities.
In this commissioned series, artist Cheryl Humphreys broadens the scope of her intimate embossing technique to create sprawling, large-scale works on paper. Her bold pieces celebrate the quiet detail of fine architecture and the relentless, raw symmetry of nature.
Trained as a textile designer, London-based multidisciplinary artist Laurie Maun explores and responds to the relationship between texture, color and shape. Her work focuses on abstract form, occasionally dabbling in observational, figurative matter.
Jaimie Milner’s photographic practice is rooted in a celebration of black culture and identity. Her series ‘Gifted’ depicts men in her life inhabiting a moment that is established by intimacy, so that the viewer sees these men as Milner sees her father and brother, in opposition to media portrayals and stereotypes.
